programs

Our programming focuses on healthy living, with an emphasis on nutrition and exercise, sustainability, and the importance of being stewards of our environment, as well as key bicycle safety and maintenance. Students are provided with an overall approach to healthy living focused on nutrition, physical activity, and the health of their community and neighborhoods. At the end of their programming sessions, students will be invited to a bike build event where, with the help of a volunteer and mentor, they will build their own bike that they can continue to use as a tool for exercise. Participants also receive a light, lock, and helmet in order to ensure safety, which is our main priority for participants.

  • The Earn-A-Bike@School is an incentive based program designed to focus on attendance, coursework, positive behavior, health, and fostering self empowerment. Our curriculum incorporates nutrition, safety, maintenance, and wellness components laced with the common thread of working towards a goal and earning it. The culmination of the program is our Build-A-Bike Event. With the help of a volunteer and mentor, students assemble their new bike, reinforce what they have learned about safe cycling and learn how to support each other when riding as a group. The event acts as a celebration of the students’ commitment and dedication to improving themselves and concludes in a two-mile group ride.

  • Earn-A-Bike@School takes over summer! In an adaptation of our traditional EAB @ School program, the summer program explores nutrition, safety, and bike parts with an integration of hands on learning of bike maintenance. The programs concludes with a bike build event, with the students building their new bikes and receiving their new helmets, lights, and lock.

  • Taking a holistic approach to well-being this 8-week program will take kids through curriculum focused on nutrition, sustainability, the importance of physical activity and bicycle safety and maintenance.

Looking for a wheel-y fun way to make a positive impact?

Earn-A-Bike@School works with Title 1 schools to deliver curriculum on key bicycle skills for safety and maintenance, as well as the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle by focusing on nutritional meals and exercise. Students who complete the EAB program are then invited to our annual bike build event, where, with the help of a volunteer, they assemble a brand new bike that they've earned. Our hope is that these students continue to lead a physically active life, build community around their love for cycling, and feel empowered to continue to work toward their goals.
